Introduce

오픈씨, 혹은 각종 커뮤니티 사이트에서 링크를 보고 오셨으리라 생각합니다. 이곳은 제가 찍은 사진과, 그 속에 담긴 이야기를 짧게 나마 담아보고자 만든 블로그입니다. 트위터, 인스타그램보다 클래식하지만, 왠지 모르게 이 '블로그 포스팅'이 훨씬 더 저에게 편안함을 주었습니다. 앞서 언급한 SNS를 자주 이용하시는 분들께는 블로그가 다소 불편하시겠지만, 감히 양해를 구하겠습니다. 

I'm sure you've seen links on Opensea or various community sites. This is a blog created to tell the story of the picture I took. It's more classic than Twitter and Instagram, but for some reason, this "blog posting" gave me a lot more comfortable. Blogs may be a little uncomfortable for those who frequently use the aforementioned SNS, but I dare to ask for your understanding.

사진 촬영에 대한 흥미는 어릴 적부터 가졌습니다. 사실 이것은 아버지의 영향이 컸는데, 아버지의 취미로 시작한 DSLR 카메라의 수집은 자연스레 저에게도 관심이 생기게 만들었고, 이윽고 가족이 함께 외출할 때면 아버지가 사주신 카메라를 들고 나서곤 했습니다. 비록 집안 형편이 다소 어려워지고, 저또한 학업을 위해 집에 있던 카메라들은 하나 둘씩 정리했지만, 사진을 찍는 취미는 버리질 못해서 길을 다니다 자연스럽게 잘 배치된 피사체의 모습들을 마주치면 네모난 화면 속에 담아 감상하곤 했습니다. 기술의 발전 덕에, 멋진 사진을 찍도록 도와주는 것은 카메라 뿐만이 아니기 때문에 말입니다.

I've been interested in taking pictures since I was young. In fact, this was largely influenced by my father. The collection of DSLR cameras, which started as my father's hobby, naturally made me interested, when my family went out together, I would bring the camera my father bought me. Although the family situation became somewhat difficult, and I also sold cameras at home one by one for study, I couldn't throw away my hobby of taking pictures, so when I encountered a naturally well-positioned subject while walking on the street, I used to watch it on a square screen. Thanks to advances in technology, cameras are not the only ones that help me take great pictures.

이제 저에 대한 이야기보다 제 사진에 대한 이야기를 해보겠습니다. 여러분은 한국이라는 나라에 대해 얼마나 알고, 또 어떻게 생각하시나요? 경제와 정치, 시민 의식 같은 내적인 이야기를 떠나서, 한국이라는 나라의 '생김새' 그 자체에 대해 말입니다. 많은 사람들은 종종 높은 건물들이 즐비해 있고, 넓은 도로에 많은 차들이 질서 있게 달리며, 멋지게 빼입은 젊은 사람들이 바쁘게 무언가 하고 있는 장면들을 떠올리리라 생각합니다. 물론, 이런 모습도 있겠지만 저는 이렇게 진보 되고 힘 있는 모양새보다, 어딘가에 숨어 있는 작고 여린 모습에 관심이 갔습니다.

Now, let's talk about my picture rather than about me. How much do you know and what do you think about Korea? Apart from internal stories such as economy, politics, and civic consciousness, it is about the "look" itself of a country called Korea. Many people often think of scenes where tall buildings are lined up, many cars run in an orderly manner on a wide road, and young people dressed nicely are busy doing something. Of course, there will be this kind of appearance, but rather than this advanced and powerful shape, I was interested in the small and soft appearance hidden somewhere.

사실, 한국인들의 입장에서 바라본 제 사진은 크게 특별해 보이지 않을 것입니다. 제 사진 속 풍경들은 한국 어디에서든, 심지어는 아마 자신들이 살고 있는 동네에서 조차도 흔히 찾아볼 수 있는 모습들이기 때문입니다. 하지만, 이런 일상적인 모습이 어느새 갑자기 사라져버린다면? 먼 훗날 우리는 그 보잘것 없는 모습조차 그리워하지 않을까요? 잦은 도시 개발 정책 덕분에 이렇게 정적이고 고즈넉한 분위기는 금새 자취를 감추고 말 것입니다. 제 사진은 이렇게 먼 미래가 다가오기 전, 그때를 추억하기 위해 남겨놓는 목적 또한 가지고 있습니다.

In fact, my picture from the perspective of Koreans will not look very special. This is because the scenery in my picture is common everywhere in Korea, even in the neighborhood where they live. However, what if this daily life suddenly disappears? Wouldn't we miss even that humble image in the distant future? Thanks to frequent urban development policies, this static and quiet atmosphere will quickly disappear. My picture also has the purpose of leaving it to remember before this distant future approaches. 

알량한 저의 예술관을 이러한 형태로 표현할 수 있게 된 것은 제게 꽤나 영광스러우면서도 가슴 설레는 일입니다. 다소 겸손을 담아 말씀드리자면 제 눈에는 소개 시켜드릴 정도로 만족스러운 작품일지 몰라도, 타인의 눈에는 상당히 모자랄지도 모릅니다. 오랫동안 사진을 접해왔다고는 하지만, 부끄럽게도 모자른 부분이 있을 수 있기에 이따금씩 건전한 비판 한 두 마디 건네주신다면 발전하는 모습으로 보답하겠습니다. 또한, 일상적이고 사소한 부분들을 다루는 사진이니만큼 자주 다양한 모습들을 담아 선보일 예정이니, 잠시 보고 지나칠 정도로 사소하게 여기시더라도 쉽게 잊지 않고 다시 찾아 주신다면 감사하겠습니다.

It is quite an honor and heart-fluttering for me to be able to express my petty view of art in this form. To put some humility into it, it may be a satisfactory work enough to introduce it to my eyes, but it may be quite insufficient for others. It is said that you have been exposed to photographs for a long time, but there may be some shameful shortcomings, so if you give me a healthy criticism from time to time, I will repay you with improvement. In addition, as it is a picture dealing with everyday and trivial things, I will show you various aspects often, so I would appreciate it if you would not forget and visit us again even if you think it is too trivial for a while.
